Alaska Fishing Charters

Are you looking for Alaska fishing charters? Our charters do not physically operate out of Alaska but they do run out of Prince Rupert BC which is just south of Alaska. You can see Prince Rupert on the map below labelled with the red icon.

You may be disappointed to hear we are not located in Alaska but the fishing and scenery is just as good. Another huge benefit the currency exchange right now which is favoring the US dollar over the Canadian dollar. Our fishing charters are very unique. How are they unique? Read on and you’ll find out.

Thunder 1 is the premier live aboard vessel out of Prince Rupert.  If you have never been up to this area of the world, a lifetime opportunity awaits you to see one of the last pristine wilderness areas on this beautiful planet. But you are well aware of that since you specifically searched for Alaska fishing charters. View photos of past trips to get an idea of what you can come to expect when you book with us.

Salmon & Halibut Fishing

If you are not aware of the fish you can expect to catch in the Pacific Northwest, you will be fishing for salmon and halibut. We have been patrolling the coastline of the Pacific Northwest for over 13 years and know all of the best spots to catch fish. We are a wealth of information about the best techniques and where the fish are biting.

So why are our charters unique? Our boat, the Thunder 1, is a live-aboard boat which means you fish, sleep and eat on the boat. We cater to small groups of 4 to 6 so your group is the only group aboard.  While lodges can provide a fun experience, we find that our live-aboard boat is a great way to experience the tranquil waters and wildlife of Prince Rupert and the coast. Overnights are spent in peaceful anchorages close to the salmon and halibut fishing grounds. This means you’ll have the rods in the water for the early morning bite. Our Fishing Charters typically span three to four days which is enough time for you to catch plenty of fishes and enjoy your time of the waters. Doug and Deb Emery are your hosts and have cruised up and down the coast of British Columbia for years.

Your Boat

Accommodation for your crewed charter is aboard Thunder 1, a classic 52′ Wahl Trawler. Wahl boats were a mainstay of the fishing fleet along the coast of British Columbia for many years. The Thunder 1 is a fine example of a west coast heritage vessel and provides a unique charter experience.

The boat was built from scratch as a pleasure boat and she is fully equipped with the latest in modern electronics and safety equipment along with all the comforts of home. It’s like living on a fishing lodge! We can accommodate up to 6 guests in two private forward staterooms with separate shower and washroom facilities. Please check out our Vessel page for more information about this unique trawler.

Safety First

Your vessel and crew are Coast Guard Certified. Each year the Thunder 1 undergoes a rigorous safety inspection. She provides a safe, comfortable journey whether our boating travels take us salmon fishing, whale watching or eco-touring.
