The M.V. Thunder 1 is a 52 ft. Wahl built charter vessel operating on the west coast of British Columbia. The vessel is certified yearly by Transport Canada for 6 berthed passengers and a crew of 2.
Built as a pleasure vessel in 1984 the M.V.Thunder 1 is a rugged west coast trawler capable of operating from Victoria to Alaska as a mobile camp boat, live-aboard or research vessel. With a 1500 nautical mile range, and 400 gallons of fresh water; she can stay on location in remote areas for extended periods of time. The vessel offers generous interior space and the exterior decks provide both covered and open areas for work and observation. Working crews are accommodated in two forward state rooms, one accommodating 4 and the other 2 persons. A separate shower and head is provided forward while the crew has separate quarters and washroom in the rear. There is plenty of interior heat provided by a forced air diesel furnace and free standing Dickenson stove. Check out the Your Vessel tab for further information on the M.V. Thunder 1 and for pictures of the vessel.
Your experienced crew is both owner and operator having logged over 50,000 miles of cruising on the BC coast. Deb is an excellent cook and all meals will be provided for our working guests including lunches for those operating off the boat during the day. There is a larger covered area at the rear of the vessel that can be used as a drying room or for equipment storage.
Safety First. Your Thunder 1 owners and crew are acutely aware of the safety environment demanded by our clients. Both crew and vessel undergo rigorous inspections yearly to meet Transport Canada requirements as a 6 berthed passenger vessel. As well as Transport Canada the Thunder 1 and crew have been vetted by various clients whose safety requirements often exceed that of Transport Canada. To this end we have passed all checks.
Those clients include but are not limited to:
The Canadian Coast Guard. Having used the Thunder 1 on several occasions for navigation aid inspections and planning.
Stantec. Chartered the Thunder 1 for Mammal surveys in the Prince Rupert area.
Brinkman Forest Products. Having used the Thunder 1 on several occasions to house their crew in remote locations.
