Fishing our way into August we were joined by Ray and his wife Joane, as well as Deb’s Brother and his wife Francine. With Den and Fran bringing their years of fishing expertise with them and acting as both crew and deckhands it was like a holiday for Deb and I. Couple that with great fishing and the best summer weather of the year and it was a home run. The highlight of the fishing was some outstanding halibut fishing, and a story about the one that got away that will always have us wondering, just how big was that fish? One thing for sure, very, very big, as it had it’s way with us and seemed undaunted by our efforts to bring her closer to the boat. Our policy is always to release the large female spawners to help insure future halibut fishing for all, however it would have been nice to see how big she was. To Ray and Joane, thanks hope to see your soon, to Den and Fran, your hired, shitty pay but all the fish you can eat.
